Lucas Leiva claimed that he is thrilled at the prospect of being able to play

Lucas Leiva claimed that he is thrilled at the prospect of being able to play at the new Wembley stadium.

The Brazilian has played in some of the prestigious grounds across the world including the Maracana in Brazil, but never at the Wembley. His first opportunity to do so will come when Liverpool take on Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final this weekend. Lucas has just returned from a long-term injury problem that has kept him out for much of the campaign. Despite being one of the longest serving players at Liverpool, Lucas regrets his inability to have not played at Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to start the player in defence in order to overcome the injury crisis. City are also going through a similar problem, but they are the favourites to win the competition. Liverpool have won this League Cup a few years ago under the regime of Kenny Dalglish. This remains as the only title success that the club has had in the last decade. Jurgen Klopp may have come to the club only recently but he could get into the history books straightaway with a win in this competition.Klopp has altered the playing style of Liverpool heavily but it is yet to yield consistent results.

“I’ve played at the Maracana a few times but never at Wembley.I’ve been at Liverpool so long." he told Jenny Campbell "To have that chance would be amazing. I have been dreaming about it to be honest. It was hard for me.I remember when we were on our way to the stadium I was a little bit down because I wanted to be on the pitch.I remember Stevie sending me a text which said: ‘Don’t worry, we will get here again',” said Lucas while recalling the 2012 final when he was injured.
